Along with all British Columbians, Sport BC has been devastated to witness the impact of the extreme flooding and mudslides experienced in our province. We also know the rebuilding process, including sport facilities, will take some time. The BC Amateur Sport Fund has set up a Flood Relief Fund for Sport BC members and their clubs to generate donations for costs resulting from the recent flooding across the province. Sport BC will be matching upto $10,000 to support the amateur sport sector as they rebulid. Donors to the Sport BC Flood Relief Fund will receive a tax receipt for eligible donations. support.bcamateursportfund.org/P0454

The BC AMATEUR SPORT FUND (BCASF) is a philanthropic gift-giving program, previously known as the National Sport Trust Fund, was established through the Canadian Council of Provincial and Territorial Sport Federations (CCPTSF) for the development of amateur sport on a national level.

The BCASF is a Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA) with the Canada Revenue Agency (#88938 6868 RR0001).

One of the functions of the BCASF is to manage a national fundraising initiative for amateur sport. This permits Canadian sport organizations to raise funds for specific causes that will promote the development of amateur sport in Canada. The organizations that have registered projects are responsible for both the fundraising and the expenditures related to the funds raised. Over the last few years, the CRA has accepted the uniqueness of the BCASF while, at the same time, strongly suggesting the implementation of policies, procedures and documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with CRA policies.

As a registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), the BC Amateur Sport Fund is able to issue an official tax receipt for all qualifying donations of $20 or greater. The BCASF has provincial chapters across Canada, with Sport BC as the Fund Manager of the BC chapter.

With sport organizations looking to diversify their revenue streams, the BC Amateur Sport Fund offers the opportunity for sporting groups to develop fundraising programs which target fundraising from private sources; including individuals, corporations and foundations.
