Sport BC will be celebrating the 55th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Vancouver Convention Centre East. The event will be hosted by CBC’s Scott Russell and will recognize the province’s best in amateur sport in the following categories:
Athlete with a Disability
High School Female Athlete
High School Male Athlete
Junior Female Athlete
Junior Male Athlete
Senior Female Athlete
Senior Male Athlete
Finalists are recognized for outstanding performances in their sport in either 2021 or 2022 seasons. To celebrate more sport stories, we will have five (5) finalists for most of the categories. Members of Sport BC are responsible for nominations and the deadline for nominations is Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
“The Athlete of the Year Awards is Sport BC’s signature event, and we are so pleased we will be hosting in person on March 9, 2023. The event is a true celebration of sport in our province, and we look forward to showcasing the finalists and the organizations they represent in the way they deserve”, shares Sport BC’s President and CEO, Rob Newman.
Additional awards will be presented at the ceremony including the Best of BC, KidSport BC Community Champion, Harry Jerome Comeback, Daryl Thompson Lifetime Achievement Award and In Her Footsteps Honourees.
