5th annual virtual event supports KidSport chapters across BC

For Immediate Release – March 25, 2025 – KidSport’s annual MOVE430 Challenge is back for 2025 and kicks off April 1st. This fun, virtual event challenges participants to move for at least 30 minutes each day for 30 consecutive days in April all to support their local KidSport chapter.

Participants are encouraged to enter their daily activity into an online tracker and are rewarded with a chance to win prizes if they complete and record their activity for the full 30 days. This year prizes have all been donated by Under Armour and include $25 daily, $250 weekly, and a $1,000 grand prize gift cards.

First piloted by the KidSport Langley chapter in 2021, the challenge expanded province-wide in 2022, and this year is being piloted in other provinces across the country in addition to BC, including Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec.

“The MOVE430 Challenge is a great opportunity for individuals across the province to support their local KidSport chapter as we know more funding is needed to meet the growing demand we’re seeing from struggling families,” says KidSport BC Director, Angela Crowther. “You can join as an individual or get your friends and family together to participate as a team. However you choose to join, you can feel good knowing you are committing to your own health and wellness, and you’re helping provide much-needed support for your local KidSport community.”

Registration is $30 which goes toward supporting a KidSport chapter of your choice to help fund grants to pay for sport registration fees for kids facing financial barriers. Participants are also encouraged to fundraise by soliciting support from friends and family throughout the challenge.

The program had another record-setting year for granting in 2024, funding a season of sport for 10,695 kids totaling more than $3.6M in registration fees—$1M more than the previous year. Grant totals have effectively doubled across BC since 2022 and the accelerated increase in demand has significantly depleted the financial reserves in many communities, making fundraising a top priority.

While KidSport has received some funding from both the provincial and federal government in recent years, fundraisers like the MOVE430 Challenge are instrumental to the success of the program to ensure no child is left watching from the sidelines.

Registration for the 2025 MOVE430 Challenge is already underway and closes April 3rd. Participants can register online or find more details at kidsportcanada.ca/move430 and follow @move430challenge on Instagram for the latest event updates.
