Media Advisory – December 15, 2021 – (Vancouver, BC)

Along with all British Columbians, Sport BC has been devastated to witness the impact of the extreme flooding and mudslides experienced in our province. We know the rebuilding process, including sport facilities, will take some time. To help with the rebuilding process for amateur sport, Sport BC has set up a Flood Relief Fund through the BC Amateur Sport Fund. This fund will enable local and provincial sports organizations to raise funds to help recover from the flooding experienced across the province. Donors can designate their gift to a particular club, sport or community. Eligible gifts to the BC Amateur Sport Fund can receive a tax receipt. Sport BC will match every dollar raised with the Flood Relief Fund, up to $500 for each organization to a total of $10,000. This match funding will be prioritized for organizations most affected by the flooding.

Organizations must be registered with their provincial sports organization to receive funds, but do not need to register with BCASF to fundraise with the Flood Relief Fund.
