Once again, Kamloopsians have answered the call.  Officials with the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games have announced that they have reached their goal of 2100 volunteers!

“We want to thank the people of Kamloops for coming up big again,” said Volunteer Director Chris Whyte.“  We have been inundated with people coming down to our office to register.  As it stands now, we will only be processing those who have previously registered.”

Doug Smith, General Manager for the Games says at this point, the link on the Games website for volunteering  will be closed down.   “Right now, we think that we have enough people to fill the general jobs,” he added.   “ We are still doing specific recruiting in the areas of  bus driving, doctors and nurses. If we need more volunteers for a particular task, we will post it on our website.”

Volunteers have been registering at “Volunteer Central” at the TRU Culinary Arts building since last Friday.

“We are confident that the Games will be a success and another feather in the cap of Kamloops as the Canada’s Tournament Capital ” stated 2011 Western Canada Summer Games President Henry Perjil.
