Sport BC adds new Board of Directors

New Board Members 2010-2011
Following the AGM on Saturday June 10th 2010, Sport BC is proud to announce four new members to the Sport BC Board of Directors.

Carey Dillen, Vice Chair, Finance & Audit Committee
A new member to the board, Carey joins us from VANOC where she is the Vice-President Finance & Comptroller for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Carey previously worked with Mountain Equipment Co-op as Controller & Special Projects and also held the position of Senior Manager with KPMG LLP. Carey’s passion for sport is evident in her years spent coaching elementary and junior high school basketball as well as holding a certification in personal training and participating in competitive dance.

Larry Harper
A consultant and manager with 20 plus years of management and systems information background in health care, library and retail information systems, Larry joins the board for the first time this year. Larry is currently the BC Athletics Board Chair and has served on the BC Athletics board for the past 15 years including 4 years as Chair and 10 years as Director of Finance. He is the current Chair of the Delta Whistler Suites Strata Council. A position he has held for the past 4 years. As well, he sits on Athletics Canada’s finance committee, is Chair of the Athletics Canada Presidents Council and was the Registration Chair for the Richmond 2009 Seniors Games.

Heather Turner
Heather is a new comer to the board and the current Director of the North Vancouver Recreation Commission. Heather has previously worked for the City of Regina, Saskatchewan for 26 years in progressively senior positions, culminating in the position of General Manager of Community & Leisure Services. Heather has served as President of BC Diving since September 2005 and is a previous competitive diver herself. Heather has served in all capacities with numerous boards including Canadian Parks & Rec Association, Saskatchewan Rec Society, Regina Highland Dancing Association and Sask Diving.

Kimberly Gilhooly
A returning member to the board Kim has a strong background in marketing and has assisted many groups in the Okanagan in the areas of economic development and sport tourism promotion. Other past accomplishments include the implementation of the Women in Coaching Program for the 1994 Commonwealth Games, involvement with Sport Kelowna, and an alpine ski coach for the Nova Scotia Canada Winter Games Team. Kimberly is also a volunteer with the Canadian Olympic Association.
