Sport BC’s Power of Sport Tour kicks off next week in Terrace
Sport development program spends nine days in Terrace to build awareness, infrastructure for community sport

Richmond, BC – Sport BC’s Power of Sport Tour rolls into Terrace the week of October 17-25, bringing a jam-packed schedule of community sports programming to build sport awareness and infrastructure in the community. Experts from five Provincial Sport Organizations will be on hand to offer local residents workshops and seminars designed to encourage increased sport participation and development.
These five programs include:
• Come Try Ringette
• Curling Open House
• Kayak Instructor 1 Course
• Run Jump Throw
• Triathlon: Adult Community Coaching Course
“These programs offer the people of Terrace the opportunity to lay the foundation for sport in their community and develop new skills,” said Paul Varian, President & CEO of Sport BC. “Through the Power of Sport Tour, Sport BC continues to build on the momentum for sport created in the lead up to the BC Winter Games in Terrace and the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and promote broader public participation across British Columbia.”

Aimed at promoting, teaching and encouraging involvement in amateur sport, the Power of Sport Tour® rallies the skills and expertise of Provincial Sport Organizations to offer these communities workshops and demonstrations that, in the past year, have run in 45 different schools, and reached over 12,000 children throughout British Columbia.
