BC Ringette Names 2011 Canada Winter Games Team
Team BC Ringette’s Canada Winter Games team staff, lead by Head Coach Richard White, has selected the 16 athletes who will represent the province at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

The team also includes four alternates: Leigh Maxwell-Smith (Vancouver), Shelby Ayers (North Vancouver), Kristin Tooms (Terrace) and Jennifer Fuller (Houston). The 2011 Canada Winter Games will be held from February 11th to 27th in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Established in 1976, The BC Ringette Association is a provincial amateur sport organization with nearly 3000 members province-wide, including players, coaches, officials, managers and volunteers. We offer the opportunity to participate in one of Canada’s official heritage sports at many different levels and divisions. Ringette was invented in 1963 in North Bay, Ontario by the late Sam Jacks. There are currently over 27,000 players on nearly 2,000 teams across Canada with over 2,400 officials and 5,000 coaches. Internationally, it is played in half a dozen other countries around the world. Ringette has been designated a Heritage Sport by Sport Canada and as part of the Sport for Life movement, ringette is advanced at adapting Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development model.
