Badminton’s popularity takes flight

This weekend the Richmond Olympic Oval will host the Yonex Canada Open, one of the largest badminton tournaments in Canada. This event will draw over 250 elite badminton players from 33 countries. They will all be vying for the $50,000 purse which is up for grabs. This tournament will be a great opportunity to showcase all the talented Canadian athletes who play badminton at the highest level, including 8th seeded woman Anna Rice.

Qualifying rounds begin today and the tournament will continue through the week with the finals being played on Sunday, July 18th.
