North Vancouver’s Zach Bell leads Overall World Cup Standings
After his second place finish at the 2011 UCI Track Cycling World Cup, North Vancouver’s Zach Bell claimed the top spot on the season’s overall World Cup standings. Bell was only two points shy of the winner and finished the event with a total of 30points. In the first of the omnium’s six races, Bell was at the top of the heat, winning the flying lap with a 13.233 second finish. He started the second day off with a sixth place finish in the individual pursuit, ninth in the scratch race, and fourth in the last race of the omnium to capture the silver medal in Beijing. Bell is currently ranked first in the world, with an eight point lead over second place contender Edward Clancy of Great Britain.
