Burnaby phenom leads Canada to victory, fifth World Cup berth

Captain Christine Sinclair showed  Friday why she is nominated for the FIFA Women’s World Soccer Player of the Year in a 4-0 win over Costa Rica Friday. The win not only propelled the Canadian Women’s soccer team on to the CONCACAF final, but also secured a spot for the team in the 2011 Women’s World Cup. Sinclair scored her fifth of the tournament in the 75th minute, cementing the win for Canada, then up by 2.

Sinclair is a five-time Canadian player of the year and was named Sport BC’s Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2002, 2005 and 2006.
