Sport community stands together in recognition of Laura Szendrei

The loss of life always strikes hard, but the death of SurDel Girls Soccer Club player Laura Szendrei has hit especially hard in the soccer and sports communities in British Columbia.

The SurDel club will honour Laura’s memory at the commencement of its games on Sunday, October 3. SurDel president Kelly Raba is requesting all of her club’s home and away games observe a moment of silence to honour Laura and show their respect for her family by wearing black arm bands, many of which will bear her initials.

“SurDel teams, players, coaches and officials will come together to respect and participate in such an honouring for a soccer player who was dedicated, committed and a valuable member of our club,” said Raba. “We know everyone will be playing their games Sunday in memory of Laura. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to her family.”

The larger Sport BC community stands with BC Soccer and SurDel in honouring the memory of Laura Szendrei.
