Tumbler Ridge sport heroes announced
Eight dedicated sport volunteers to receive Sport BC’s Community Sport Hero Awards presented by EnCana

Richmond, BC – Sport BC will honour eight dedicated sport leaders from Tumbler Ridge on Tuesday August 17, 2010 with the Community Sport Hero Awards presented by EnCana.
The award ceremony, hosted at the Twilight Lodge, celebrates the contributions of long-time community sport volunteers. Larry White, Mayor of Tumbler Ridge, will be in attendance to present the winners with their awards and a gift from the Community Sport Hero Awards’ official apparel provider, FIRSTAR Sports Inc.
“After announcing the Community Sport Hero Awards in Tumbler Ridge, we received the highest number of nominations from a community ever,” said Executive Vice-President of Sport BC, Rick Christiaanse. “These volunteers are crucial to the success of sport in BC and the development of strong, healthy communities. It’s a testament to the strength of this community that so many are willing to dedicate their time to this pursuit.”
“EnCana is pleased to present Sport BC’s Community Sport Hero Awards in Tumbler Ridge this year for the first time,” said Brian Lieverse, EnCana Community Relations Advisor. “These long-time volunteers represent the very best of a community we are proud to be a part of.”
The following individuals are the outstanding volunteers who were selected by their peers to receive the 2010 Sport BC Community Sport Hero Awards in Tumbler Ridge:

- Doug Foerster Multi-Sports
- Patricia (Pat) Fraser Golf
- Linda Helm Athletics
- Jan Proulx Multi-Sports
- Birgit Sharman Multi-Sports
- Kevin Sharman Multi-Sports
The public is invited to help celebrate these individuals at the ceremony, which begins at 6:00pm.
Tumbler Ridge is the seventh stop for the Community Sport Hero Awards in 2010, traveling also to Chetwynd on August 18.
