Football BC: Coaching Staff & Tryout Camp Invitations for Provincial U-18 Team to Compete at 2011 Football Canada Cup

BURNABY, B.C. – Football BC announced today the coaching staff for the provincial under-18 team that will represent British Columbia at the 2011 Football Canada Cup slated to be held at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta from July 9 – 16, 2011.

The 2011 staff features five returning members from the 2010 bronze medal winning Team BC squad including Tom Kudaba (Terry Fox Ravens) who will serve as head coach and offensive line coach for the second straight year. Other returning members are Dino Geremia (Football BC) as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Ray Moon (South Delta Sun Devils) as defensive line coach and Alexis Sanschagrin (Mt. Douglas Rams) as defensive backs coach. Kris Pechet (Seaquam Seahawks) is also a returning coach but will be serving as a running backs coach this year after being the receivers coach last year.

Newcomers to the staff are Jay Prepchuk (Handsworth Royals) as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Mark Townsend (Mt. Douglas Rams) as the receivers coach. Also joining the staff is Bernie Crump (Pinetree Secondary School) as the team’s general manager. Last year’s general manager, Larry Reda, will serve as the assistant general manager for the 2011 team.

Football BC has also released a list of 132 players who have been extended an invitation to the mini-camp to be held over the Victoria Day Long Weekend (May 21-23) at Simon Fraser University. The list can be downloaded here or requested by emailing communications@playfootball.bc.ca.

The final roster of 40 players will be selected from the list of 132 following the mini-camp. More details on the mini-camp will be announced at a later time.

BC High School Football’s Terry Fox Ravens have the most representation on the mini-camp roster with 12 players invited. The Vancouver College Fighting Irish, WJ Mouat Hawks, Notre Dame Jugglers and Mt. Douglas Rams each have eight players on the list.
