2011 Celebration of Women in Sport
The ProMOTION Plus Lifetime Achievement Award
ProMOTION Plus, a non-profit organization that promotes women and girls in sport and physical activity, had a special award – the ProMOTION Plus Lifetime Achievement Award. The Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, Ida Chong, presented the award to Patti Hunter, a long-time sports advocate for equality for women in sport. She is General Manager of KidSport Greater Victoria and is active in many sports associations including the BC Centre of Excellence for Women’s Health; BC Recreation and Parks Association, Sport BC, BC Games Society, and ProMOTION Plus for Girls and Women in Sport and Physical Activity.
She was thrilled at receiving the award, “I have done a lot of advocacy work and sometimes it is difficult to see the results of your effort. But the partnership between ProMOTION Plus and KidSport is very valuable and we are seeing the benefits.” The goal of the 2011 Celebration of Women in Sport event was to celebrate sport and its importance for girls and women of all ages in all stages of sport development.
